Following these instructions and ONLY installing ecj did NOT appear to work. The build fails looking for 'javac'. Installing gcj got past that problem, but documenting how this build works with each of these VM suggestions _by itself_ would be good. General instructions on how you tell the build to use a particular VM if you have multiple installed would also be nice, since it is not clear if going into the classpath dir and executing configure yourself doesn't get overridden by however the buildroot makefile is calling the configure for classpath (where that is or how to manipulate it would also be great info).

This is on a fresh and updated Ubuntu 7.10 install with gumstix buildroot revision 1559 and adding only the packages suggested on this page (classpath, jamvm, zlib). Installed ecj then gcj using 'apt-get install <vm>'.
