Gumstix modifications

On the older gumstix boards (pre-J fab), when you plug the gumstix and robostix together, you may notice that the two boards are not parallel with each other. This is caused by the 32kHz crystal on the gumstix contacting components on the robostix board.


This photo shows the 32kHz crystal:

The crystal is the black rectangular shape immediately to the left of the processor (which is the large black square).

This photo shows the newly installed low profile version:

The low profile crystal seen above is a Citizen CM415 (Digi-Key part 300-8193-1-ND)

The newer gumstix boards (J & K fab level) come with a low profile crystal already installed.
