What is the netstix computer?
The netstix computer is a network-attached gumstix computer.
The netstix 200xm-cf has a 200MHz connex motherboard with a netCF expansion board providing the 10/100 Ethernet and compact flash functions.

Is ethernet brought up by default in a netstix computer or 10/100 Ethernet gumstix configuration?
Yes, ethernet is brought up be default on the netstix computer and in any configuration with a 10/100 Ethernet-capable gumstix expansion board, such as a netMMC, netCF, netDUO-mmc or cfstix.
Bringing up ethernet automatically has been the default since rootfs r782 -- to find the latest version of the buildroot, check here.
The netstix computer, and any connex motherboard, comes configured to start the ethernet device and request an IP address from the network via DHCP. You need an active DHCP server on the LAN in order for the ethernet to come up.
If you have a working DHCP server on your LAN and the netstix is not obtaining an IP address from it, then it's possible that the netstix computer is defective. contact sales at gumstix.com.
Does the current shipping Netstix contain the latest U-Boot to support Compact Flash?
Yes
Can the Netstix filesystem be replaced without reflashing?
Yes. You can put a root filesystem on the CompactFlash card: See using a CompactFlash Card as the Root Filesystem.
Is the bootcmd already set to look for gumstix-factory script on a Compact Flash ?
No, it is not set to look on the CF. As such, you cannot avoid having to take the extra step of setting this up since the Netstix only comes with Compact Flash.
The ability to make the netstix computer ready, out of the box, to boot an image and filesystem from the Compact Flash will be in future revisions.
Are the netstix computers certified in North America and Europe?
As of September 22nd, 2006, the netstix 200xm-cf computer has:
- received FCC Class A certification for business/commercial use.
- not received CE certification for Europe.
As a result, the netstix 200xm-cf computer is available for sale to customers from outside of Europe but these computers are not available for sale to customers in the EU.
Note that European customers may purchase the plastic netstix CF computer case and perform their own certifications.
Can a netstix computer case be purchased alone?
Yes, the plastic netstix computer case is available for sale in the accessories section of the gumstix store.

Is there space for a 60pin expansion board as well as the 92 pin netcCF board?
No, there is no room inside the netstix computer case to hold a 60-pin expansion board.
The netstix -cf computer can only hold the connex motherboard and the netCF expansion board.
Is it possible to have a netstix computer with Bluetooth(tm) function ?
No, this is not possible. The boards will fit inside the case but the bluetooth antenna cannot be connected to a bluetooth motherboard inside a netstix computer case.
